The Three Levels of Mind

Most people believe that there are only 2 levels of mind – the conscious mind and the subconscious mind! These are the 2 aspects of mind that the vast majority of people are familiar with. However, they fail to realise that there is another level of mind and forgetting about it may be the cause of your failures in life.

The conscious mind is that part of our mind that analyses things through the input that comes to us through out 5 senses. It judges, evaluates and analyses what it perceives through the senses.

Vital, logical analytical thinking happens at this mental level. The conscious mind is the reasoning, intellectual aspect of our mind. It’s the part of the mind we have awareness of and what we tend to think of as “us”. It is the decision maker and the gatekeeper to the subconscious level of mind. It, usually, decides which beliefs, thoughts or feelings pass to the subconscious mind as truth and what do not.

Basically, the conscious mind uses the 5 senses to understand the world around us and then evaluates and researches that world before making a decision about the data it has processed. While many of us assume the conscious mind to be the stronger part of our mind, there’s another mind, a particularly robust mind, which lies just underneath the awareness of the conscious mind, the subconscious mind.

The subconscious is also known to may of us but its full functions are still a mystery to the majority. This is the part of the mind that we are, for the most part, oblivious to. However, and without doubt, the subconscious is the most powerful part level of mind.

The subconscious is also houses our emotions which is one of the main reasons for its dominance over the conscious mind. This is true because often our feelings will simply overrule the sane part of us. When there’s a conflict between the conscious and subconscious minds, the subconscious mind always wins without exception!

The subconscious never judges, analyzes, or rationalizes. It simply accepts all information that is passed to it without any preconceived notions or analysis. Children are often very much still using the subconscious level of mind as their main conscious awareness at a very early age until their conscious minds start to develop and become dominant.

All of this data is taken in by youngsters stored and tidily arranged inside the subconscious mind to be accessed by the conscious mind where and when it sees fit. These vast amounts of stored information are grouped together to form the foundation for the belief systems they’re going to carry with them as adults.

Now there is a third level of mind whose existence that escapes even the most ardent pupil of self improvement. This level of mind is so intricately interwoven with the subconscious that it usually goes unnoticed. This is the 3rd level of mind called the Creative Level of Mind.

To go back to the subconscious level of mind for a moment one of its most important is to direct the Creative Level of Mind so that it can execute our habituated behavioural patterns of thoughts, feelings and reactions. This includes all our physical patterns of behaviour such as the way we walk, the expressions we make, our posture and our particular idiosyncrasities.

All these physical characteristics are automated by the subconscious level of the mind.

As the subconscious mind is so powerful and in control of our actions and reactions it stands to reason that this is the level of mind that we should be working at if we want top create any real change in our lives. For this reason such things as binaural beats and self hypnosis focus directly on gaining access to this level of mind and creating change there!
