Depression, Diabetes, Sleep and Hypnosis!

Doctors are often faced with a when it comes to a patient who is suffering from depression. If they prescribe anti-depressant, which can have a huge impact on the mental state of the patient, they run into another problem – anti-depressants very often cause insomnia. Insomnia in turn can exacerbate depression and also lead to diabetes. Not altogether a great solution to the initial problem!

It is known that lack of sleep can have a devastating effect on both the mind and the body. If you are diabetic this sleep deprivation can even cause a worsening of your condition. The American Diabetes Association, made a stark warning when they concluded in a study that chronic lack of sleep in diabetics may be far more serious than getting sleepy behind the wheel of a vehicle!

The study found that people who do not get enough sleep on a regular basis tend to become less sensitive to insulin over time. This can raise the risk of obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes. Sleep is an essential part of life and necessary for maintaining a healthy mind and body!

Furthermore, according to the study conducted at the University of Chicago, healthy adults who averaged about five hours of sleep a night, over eight consecutive nights secreted 50% more insulin than those people who got more sleep. This means those who got sleep that 8 hours per night were 40% less sensitive to insulin.

What is fascinating is that the poor sleep leads to excess insulin or hyper-insulinemia. The term hyper-insulinemia means abnormally high levels of insulin in your blood which stems from the pancreas creating and releasing too much insulin. This can lead to obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Hyper-insulinemia doesn't cause signs or symptoms. But if it leads to abnormally low blood sugar symptoms may include sweating, weakness, slurred speech, confusion and seizures.

Hyper-insulinemia is a now well recognized to be a predictor of diabetes. Also important to note is that excess insulin can cause or significantly contribute to the onset of heart disease and premature aging as well as diabetes.

Also bear in mind that insulin is a storage hormone produced by the body to lower blood sugar by sending it into the cells. Over time, excess blood sugar and insulin stresses the system and the cells become less responsive. This condition is known as insulin resistance.

So what is the best way to deal with sleep disorders and ensure you never go don the wrong path and end up with diabetes or other debilitating health problems?

Well hypnosis can help.

Hypnosis is commonly accepted by the general public as being either an entertainment tool or a means of quitting smoking. However, its effects and uses are far reaching.

However, by listening to a carefully chosen self hypnosis CD or mP3 it is possible to induce enough relaxation in the body and sufficient calmness in the mind to induce the onset of sleep.

Self hypnosis is an extremely powerful aid for those with sleep disorders and has many other positive side-effects that include a bolstering of the immune system and greater clarity of thought.

As a sleep aid hypnosis is second only to binaural beats. Both these approaches produce very specific brainwaves in the listener that are designed to produce brain waves that are conducive to deep relaxation.

After years of research the brain wave patterns of deep sleepers have been analysed and can be easily replicated merely by listening to a binaural beats audio recording through stereo headphones.

Do you want to avoid the health complications that may arise due to a sleep disorder? Then read the full review of Binaural Beats and see how they can be used to heal your mind and body and also ensure you get your full 8 hours of sleep every night!
