Many successful people in the world have had to face the question from loved ones and friends, “When are you going to get a real job?”
Artists, musicians and even self-made millionaires have had to face this question at some point in their lives.
If you are following your passion you may have heard this question more than a few times or one that is like it – “When are you going to get your head out of the clouds and deal with reality?”
When we have high ideals and dreams and we try to pursue them most people try to deter us in our efforts. Society has programmed the vast majority of people to believe that pursuing their dreams is futile.
We are taught to believe it is better to get a job, settle down, raise kids and become engrossed in the “rat race”.
So, when you show that you are determined to achieve goals that are meaningful to you most people are unconsciously upset by; you become a living accusation against their complacency with mediocrity!
It seems that people around us never understand when we pursue our passions. However, just because those people have settled for what they can get in life and given up on their dreams does mean that you have to!
For this reason, more than any, men and women of vision struggle to achieve their aims in life. When other people, especially those we love and trust, try to dissuade us from pursuing our dreams their words plant the seeds of doubt on our own heads.
The truth is often hard to take and although consciously these people may be thinking that they are only trying to protect you their unconscious reasons run much deeper and stronger; if you were to ever achieve your dreams then you be a living example that anything is possible – you would have highlighted their own fears and inadequacies!
This is why many people hold the view that those people who are successful have been very lucky or blessed in some way.
However, if you ask the person who has achieved success what they had to do to get to where they are you would find that although luck may have played its part, they were determined to succeed. Successful people even keep going in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
If you wish to achieve your desires then you must shut out all outside influences that are trying to deter you from your goals. Only when you stay steadfast and focused on the rewards that you want to experience can you become immune to the negativity of others and the world.
When you remain centered on your goals nothing can stop you. Diligent action, persistence and belief can carry you to the greatest of heights when you stay true to your own desires and inner vision.
Decide now that you will not give-in to the “cries” of others and that you will live life on your terms!
