Demystifying the Powers of Hypnosis!

You must accept that almost all your behaviour is automatic and generated by your subconscious beliefs. All of our emotions, beliefs, and habits reside in the subconscious mind. Therefore, as the subconscious mind is an automatic mechanism that was designed to allow us to perform tasks automatically (like driving, breathing, talking etc.) it stands to reason that your emotions, the vast majority of your thoughts and your beliefs are automatic in nature.

Now if you have positive thoughts, feelings and beliefs then this is not a problem. However, problems arise because we have many deep-seated subconscious beliefs that hinder are movement forward in life. Hypnosis is an enjoyable, easy and effective way to access the subconscious s mind in order to affect change in our internal deep-seated beliefs. It is a way to change our negative thoughts into positive ones and eliminate our negative feelings which drive these beliefs. Hypnosis provides direct access to the subconscious mind to replace any negatives with powerful, life-changing positives.

While many people think of hypnosis as a state of “deep sleep” this is a misconception that has been perpetrated by the media, television and movies. Hypnosis is actually a comfortable and relaxed state that heightens your focus and attention and targets your concentration onto one subject to the exclusions of all others. In fact your senses actually become more acute during hypnosis although you pay very little attention to the outside world being very focused within.

Hypnosis bypasses the conscious mind filter to allow full access to the subconscious mind. While you have this access you will be more open and receptive to positive suggestions. You will also be able to tap into the power of the body-mind connection to effect physical changes as well as mental ones. Although most people experience a heightened state of awareness when they are hypnotized a small percentage, about 5%, are highly susceptible and enter into a state where their mind is so relaxed that they completely disengage the conscious mind and do not even remember the session afterwards.

People experience this natural, normal state at least twice each day before they go to sleep and when they wake up. However, there are also other parts of the day in which trance-like states occur naturally.

A normal everyday commute can become a trance state due to the nature of the “drive”. When you know a route so well that it becomes automatic you can easily slip into a trance state. You will know if this has ever happened to you if you can recall a time when you drove home (or anywhere) and couldn’t recall the journey!

Natural trance states also often occur when you become deeply focused on activity such as reading a book, or watching a television. Everything else in your environment is blocked out while you concentrate on what you are doing.

If trance was not possible through hypnosis then movies, drama etc., would be uninteresting to us as we could not connect to the characters or “make believe” that what we were watching was true – think of a movie you don’t like because you thought it was unbelievable. Then recall a movie you like because the characters were three-dimensional and you could identify with them as though they were real!

Hypnosis has been used for thousands of years as a powerful tool to help and heal. Early records indicate that the Egyptian temples and the Temple of Aesculapius in Greece were sites where hypnosis was used as an important part of the healing treatment.

Modern medical facilities also offer hypnosis as a main-stream treatment for many ailments and it has become established a real force for change.
