Stress
Topic: Personal Development

Stress is one of the biggest problems in our modern technological age. Although many great break-throughs have been made in science and medicine we are suffering more from stress now than at any time before in history. Stress can cause serious damage to our mental and physical health. In fact, it is even a killer!

There's no question that stress affects everyone and can even affect children.

Most of the time we blame the causes of stress on external factors. We like to lay the blame of stress firmly at the door of work, financial constraints and other people and a myriad of other things.

We like to pass the responsibility for our feelings onto something or someone else. But, let's face it, it’s you that plays the most significant role in the amount of stress and anxiety you feel because you choose to react to things in a stressful way.

It is your attitude that determines the amount of stress you have in life. You attitude plays such a key role in your levels of stress because it is based on you beliefs, thoughts and feelings. How you chose to focus your attention determines your attitude and thus your levels of stress.

Altering your attitude is the key to controlling stress and anxiety. By changing how you focus your attention you can determine how much stress you allow into your life. For example, you can see set-backs as problems or you can view them as challenges. Looking at obstacles as problems can become stressful because you immediately see the problems involved. However, when you change your focus, and thus your attitude, you don’t see problems you only see challenges and are therefore more focused on how to deal with the problem at hand rather than the problem itself!

If you can go a step further and actual see a positive end-result you will find the solutions seem to appear all by themselves. This significantly reduces your stress levels. Stress is actually a result of not believing that you can cope with the challenges before you. So when you keep a positive attitude and focus on the solutions instead of the problems you feel more in control. Thus you will reduce your feelings of stress.

One fast way to alter your attitude and redirect your focus is by releasing your negative beliefs through techniques like the Sedona Method or Release Technique.  By eliminating your negative beliefs you will remove your negative thoughts and the anxious and unwanted emotions that are connected to them.

The first step to stress reduction is to identify what actually stresses you out. Recall a stressful experience and you will find that it’s your internal mentally generating image of events that caused you stress and not the events themselves.

By identifying such a time you can review how you felt about what was occurring and what you expected to happen. This will help you to redirect your focus on the solutions and not the apparent problems you were likely looking at.
